Did you know that 38% of Australia’s homeless population are under 25 years old. This is a shameful statistic. And when you dig deeper the majority of 12-25 years of age have been forced out of home due to;- family breakdown, domestic violence and sometimes even because of their sexuality. Some of these young people have possibly never even experienced a stable, safe and secure home environment.

I feel strongly, that no young Australian in this day and age should be homeless and be in the vulnerable position where they accept the “bad-hand” that life has served to them that predetermines the wrong and hard path for the rest of their lives.

And that's why I am participating in Sleeping Under the Stars fundraising event on the 26th October for Stepping Stone House. Stepping Stone House is a not for profit organisation - with no government funding - that takes on a number of young homeless people on step-by-step development program together with long term home environment and with specialist support and coaching.  Stepping Stone House develops these homeless youths from lost causes into young people with the education, life skills, social and emotional behaviours who are independent, self-sufficient, respected individuals and become the best that they can be.

Sleeping under the Stars is one night where like minded people come together to experience “sleeping rough” in cardboard boxes, under the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The aim this year is to raise half a million dollars and I need your help to sponsor me. Those who know me well, know that I don’t do accommodation under 5 stars - although ironically on the night there will be millions of stars - So this is not a whim that I am taking on lightly. So please dig deep on your donation so that we can make a real impact on an Aussie kid’s life.
